Mahalos

It's getting close to race time and it's way past time to extend some heart-felt thank yous to the many people who are making this possible.

  • First, to our tri-turtle coach Lisa and her husband David and her sons Dane and Drake -- who seems to have endless energy, expertise, patience, and good will. You probably have no idea how much we appreciate you. From walking and talking with some of the other newbies, I know there are many of us who are facing challenging personal lives and the Kitsap Tri-Babe experience is making us stronger mentally as well as physically and making it easier to rise above difficult times. There is a tri-turtle triathlon for charity in Kitsap on September 9th. Check out http://www.triturtletri.com/.

  • Secondly, to the many tri-babe volunteers -- Thank You for donating your time to help create a safe environment for us at the bricks every week by making sure we get across intersections safely. Just knowing that you are there to bail us out if we get into trouble is a tremendous psychological boost. A special thanks for helping with the bike clinic last weekend. It is so nice to know some basic bike mechanics. I think I actually could change a flat tire now.

  • Thanks to the Evergreen Lutheran Church for letting us use your parking lot every Saturday during training season.

  • Thanks to Poulsbo Running for the tri-babe discount (this sport is expensive when a person has to start from scratch with gear) and for the great customer service. We really appreciate the way you set us up with running shoes that fit properly and that you carry quality tri-gear and running gear.

  • Thanks to David and Silverdale Cyclery for printing our shirts at cost! Special thanks to Mike and Sheila for matching me (and many other tribabes) up with bicycles we love, and for your patience and help when we're picking out accessories. I would have to think hard to count all the times I've been in (and I don't want to because it would be way too scary to add up all my receipts) and you've been helpful every time. The new guy, Charlie, is great also, knowledgable and patient.

  • Last but not least by far, Thank You to Team Survivor Northwest for arranging our registration in the Danskin tri, and to the members of the Port Townsend walking group for your inspiration and support.

I would like to work out with a group of women but I can't do the running portion because I crushed my knee. Could you contact me if you know of any groups I could join for biking and swimming?

How do you join tribabes?

If you want to join the Tri Babes, contact the organizers of the Tri Turtle Tri

ps - you can do a Tri as part of a relay team so that if your knees don't like to run/walk, you can "just" bike and swim
