As usual, I didn't post much once summer was over. But now sunny days are ahead.
The Gates half of the other Allen and Gates will be competing in the Seattle Rainman Triathlon in about a week. She's been trying to get me to join her, but my personal life is just too messy and although I do have access to an indoor pool and an indoor bike, I just haven't had a chance to do much more than walk since last fall, so Deb is going to have to do that event on her own.
This will be Deb's second Seattle Rainman Tri. It's a really cool little event. She said she liked it a lot. I've never done it, but hopefully I'll be able to join her next year. Since the event occurs early in the season and the distances are a lot shorter than even the easy beginner-sprint distance tris (like the Danskin and the Trek), it's a nice stepping stone event.
Two of the three legs are inside. Since the swim portion is in a heated pool, you don't even have to wear a wetsuit. Last year Deb said she thought the bike leg would be a piece of cake since it's on a trainer, but that it turned out to be harder than she thought... that it gave her newly found respect for those indoor trainers.
Last year the Rainman lived up to it's name. They were so soaked on the walk/run around Greenlake that Deb said even the photographers gave up and packed it in. I know our trees need nice long cool drinks, but let's hope they have better weather this year.
